Chapter 222 of the Acts of 2012, An Act Relative to Student Access to Educational Services and Education from School, took effect on July 1, 2014. This legislation ensures that students who are suspended or expelled from school continue to have an opportunity to make academic progress through educational services provided by their school district or charter school. Experts will offer insight into the foundation elements of this law and the responsibilities it affords educators, particularly regarding high risk and high need students. Somerville Public Schools will present an overview of the range of services available to address these responsibilities.
