Executive Director's Message
As we approach our 30th year, Middlesex Partnerships for Youth is entering the school year with exciting programming, an expanded mission and new topics for our in-service programs. As Executive Director for 10 years and counting, I have the honor and privilege of joining with professionals from school districts, law enforcement and other community safety personnel, community based agencies and parents to promote health and safety for our youth in Eastern Massachusetts.
Working with me to deliver this mission is the MPY staff, community partners, and our dedicated Board of Directors which is made up of school superintendents, police chiefs, fire chiefs, and community leaders.
Our membership includes more than 100 public school districts, charter schools, private school, collaboratives, and youth service organizations. This year, we are also thrilled to welcome new members outside of Middlesex County as we expand our footprint.
Middlesex Partnerships for Youth’s mission is “prevention and intervention in matters of health and safety for youth.” This non-profit organization trains school staff, law enforcement, parents and students on a variety of prevention topics including substance abuse, bullying, internet safety and healthy teen relationships. We endeavor to foster and develop positive characteristics and relationships that bode well for youth making good choices in life.
We continue to focus on youth mental health concerns by offering professional development conferences that address schools most relevant needs, from improving attendance to coping with anxiety to practicing mindfulness.
For our in-service program, we have sought out partnerships with experts in a range of areas to offer new workshops on topics including eating disorders, executive functioning, suicide prevention and more. And we will continue to offer our popular workshops such Navigating the Cyber World, Anxiety and School Performance, and Underage Substance Abuse.
MPY’s student-based initiatives have greatly expanded and include:
- Poster and Public Service Announcement Projects
- You Lead Conferences (co-sponsored by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association)
- Healthy Relationship Summit for high school students
- Public Service Announcement videos geared at teens and featuring local students
- “Said No Drug Dealer Ever” – A PSA on the dangers of opioids
- “Teen Dating A to Generation Z: A Guide to Going Out, Breaking Up and Everything in Between” – a five part series on teen dating topics
Membership in Middlesex Partnerships for Youth, Inc. offers many benefits for your school staff, parents and students. MPY, a proactive leader in prevention efforts, continues to develop programs and initiatives that benefit our communities and work to keep our youth healthy, safe and prosperous. I am proud to lead this multi-faceted organization.
With my best regards,
